Dedicated to the memory of Ricky

This page is a tribute to Ricky Lucock - mum, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, colleague, teacher and avid conversationalist. Much loved, always remembered.

Funeral for Ricky

The service for Ricky's cremation is at Putney Vale West Chapel on Tuesday November 12th, 2024 at 11am.

A charitable donation to Shelter would be preferred to flowers. But if sending flowers is your preference, the funeral is being handled by:

Co-op Funeralcare, 679 Garratt Lane, Earlsfield, SW17 0PB

Dress code: None. Saying goodbye with colour is perfectly fine.

The service will be live-streamed on https://watch.obitus.com, username toca5592, password 275753. This will also be viewable for 28 days, from a day or two after the event.

Ricky's ashes will be interred at a later date in Littlehampton, West Sussex, alongside her late husband Bill.

Thoughts

I remember Ricky’s humour, her love of art, good food, and good company. But most of all, I remember and loved her enthusiasm for people, people of all backgrounds. It felt like she wanted to engage, share with, and learn about everyone. What a joy it was to share time with you, Ricky.

I first met Ricky when she taught me research methods as part of my BSc(Hons) Nursing degree at the Royal College of Nursing. He ability to teach and engage us on a subject many of us struggled with was both inspiring and fun. It certainly set me on the road to further studies and ultimately influenced my decision to undertake a PhD. Post being Ricky's student and when she moved to London - we spent a year committed to going to the Theatre everyone month - alternating between us who made the 'choice' to see what - this was such a fun year - and I saw many a play that I otherwise would not have chosen to see - so always the teacher - Ricky demonstrated a zest for learning, fun and friendship - I am all the richer for knowing her. My deepest condolences to the family as I know a large hole will be left by her departure but truly hope that you will be able to draw on all of the positive and warm memories that have and will be shared with you. As the saying goes..."If you can leave the planet a better place" - no question Ricky you achieved this in many many ways!

Beloved friend. Role model. Inspiration. Advisor. The most generous host bringing people together. Happiest of memories around laden dining tables. We will miss you but those many happy moments will live forever.
